By notching up more than 5900 booking in just 2 days, Mahindra has thrown a challenge to its more illustrious competitors.

If we go by the number of bookings, the Mahindra XUV5OO is on its way to create a record after over 5900 bookings were made in 2 days after the company reopened bookings for its bestseller SUV on January 25, 2012. During the first phase of the SUVs launch in October 2011, Mahindra had received over 8,000 bookings across five cities.

This time around, the bookings are open across 19 cities – Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Bangalore, Pune, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Chandigarh/Panchkula, Jallandhar, Patiala, Kochi, Trivandrum, Calicut, Trissur, Coimbatore, Nagpur and Nasik. The bookings are open from January 25, 2012 to February 2, 2012.

In the event bookings cross 7,200 applications, Mahindra will conduct a draw that would be judged by Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu India Pvt. Ltd, an audit firm. This has been done to ensure a reasonable waiting period for eligible customers in a fair and transparent manner. One company is trying to find a way to deter thieves from stealing diesel. Dynamo is running a solution through a partnership with Derbyshire Dales Community Safety. The company is dyeing diesel in order to make it identifiable to police. Police are trying to find the thieves through any means necessary such as dyeing the fuel.

Tarmac is the first to use this scheme. They are testing it out at the Dene Quarry Site in Matlock. There are several other companies which are following suit.
